Up-Side Management Company (U-SMC) is proud to add another certification to their strong list of credentials. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has determined that, in accordance with 13 CFR Part 126, U-SMC meets all requirements and eligibility to be certified as a “Historically Underutilized Business Zone” (HUBZone) Small Business. This additional certification allows the North Carolina-based company to partner with more federal agencies, prime contractors and other organizations. The SBA’s HUBZone program connects procurement opportunities with small businesses whose offices and staff are in underutilized communities.
“The HUBZone program gives U-SMC another opportunity to promote economic development and create jobs in the communities where we are located. It will also help U-SMC gain preferential access to Federal procurement opportunities, and gives our Federal Government customers easier access to construction services,” said Victor Letourneaut, U-SMC President. “In addition, our HUBZone status assists larger prime contractors and government agencies to meet their small business contracting goals.”
U-SMC is also certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Minority Owned Small Business, and is the Protégé firm within an SBA-approved Mentor-Protégé Agreement with Maven Construction & Environmental, LLC, an Economically-Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business led by Kathy Parsons, Managing Member/CEO.
“We know that the number one way to make our company an attractive option to clients is to provide high-quality, safe, on-time performance of design/build and design-bid-build construction and renovation projects,” said Letourneaut. “But by working within the SBA-established programs, we feel that we’re providing an extra benefit to our community and to our clients. This is an important milestone in U-SMC becoming one of the leading construction firms for our federal customer.”
Up-Side Management Company has bonding capacity up to $5M for a single project, with a total aggregate bonding capacity of $15M. With offices in North Carolina, Florida, and Indiana, U-SMC provides a broad range of construction, renovation, and facility repair/maintenance services, including Design/Build and Design-Bid-Build.
